Ingredients
• 125g butter
• 2 eggs
• 2 cups SR Flour
• 1 tablespoon cocoa
• 2/3 cup milk
• ¼ cup chopped walnuts
• ½ teaspoon cinnamon
• ¾ cup chopped dates
• ¾ cup sugar
Method
Cream butter and sugar and add eggs. Sift flour, cinnamon and cocoa and add to butter mixture alternately with milk. Add dates and nuts. Bake in 6 inch sandwich tins in a moderate oven.
Date filling
• 1 cup chopped dates
• 4 tablespoons milk
• 65g butter
• ½ cup brown sugar
Place dates, butter and milk in saucepan and stir well for 2-3 minutes until mixed together. Add brown sugar. Beat well and allow to cool.
